Grand Canyon, AZ – This is the closing update for the Thumb Fireplace until circumstances improve drastically. The Thumb Fireplace is 100% contained. The remaining acreage described for the hearth is 8,354.
At 5:00 pm yesterday the Thumb Fire switched to observe position. The hearth region acquired important precipitation very last 7 days and even extra rain over the weekend. Yesterday a reconnaissance flight ensured that containment traces were being secure and no smoke was detected. All methods have been released but the fire will continued to be monitored aerially.
The Havasupai reservation is below an crisis closure because of to the COVID-19 virus. Public entry into the reservation is prohibited and will be strictly enforced by the Havasupai Tribe.
There are no closures in Grand Canyon Nationwide Park similar to the Thumb Fireplace.
