Park Loop Road Closes to Motor Vehicles for the Season on Dec 1

BAR HARBOR, MAINE – The Park Loop Street will near to motor motor vehicles for the time on Dec 1, with the exception of the two-mile area from the Sand Seaside entrance station to Otter Cliff Highway (obtainable by means of Schooner Head Highway in Bar Harbor) and the Jordan Pond region (accessible via Jordan Pond Street in Seal Harbor). Snowmobiles are permitted on the shut sections of the Park Loop Street and on the unplowed lane concerning the Sand Seaside entrance station and Otter Cliff Road. In the event of inclement temperature, all sections of the Park Loop Highway may be shut.
 

The Park Loop Road remains open to pedestrians and bicyclists. Pedestrians and bicyclists must be aware support autos may still be on the shut sections of the highway. Bicyclists must also beware of closed gates across the Park Loop roadway. Guests can also enjoy the Park Loop Road on roller skates, rollerblades, skateboards, and roller skis even though the highway is shut to motor automobiles.

 

The Park Loop Highway is routinely shut on Dec 1 of every single calendar year but early wintertime weather can induce the highway to shut for the period before.
