Queens, N.Y. – Our Nationwide Parks, an show of paintings by Jayne Holsinger, will open up on Dec. 8. The show opening and reception will be from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in Broad Channel. The opening reception is cost-free and open to the community.
This show will be on show for two months.
Holsinger, who will be at the reception, has been portray the national parks as an ongoing theme and collection since 2010. Her scenes are based mostly on photographic images based on a trove of family vacation photo albums and slides which she inherited from her grandparents in 2008. Her grandfather was an beginner photographer, and documented travel by means of the continental 49 United States by going to countrywide parks.
Holsinger is acknowledged for her painted series impressed by her Midwest roots including: Gals Motorists, American Stills, Mennonites and National Parks. At first from Indiana, she grew up in a rural community close to South Bend and moved to New York City in 1978 to research portray at the New York Studio College. She received her BFA from Ringling College of Artwork and Style in Sarasota, Fla., and retains an MFA from the Transart Institute in Linz, Austria.
