West Glacier, Mont. – Glacier Countrywide Park Superintendent Jeff Mow introduced now that the park’s management is pursuing options for giving shuttle services in the course of the 2020 summer season.
Flathead County Eagle Transit has been functioning the shuttle provider below a cooperative arrangement with the park and the State of Montana because 2007. After two months of conversations with countrywide, regional and regional park officials, Flathead County Commissioners voted on December 11 to terminate their cooperative agreement to offer the support. The shuttle assistance commonly operates in July and August, weather permitting.
“We take very seriously Flathead County’s worries and thank them for their difficult function and determination to partnering with us to present the provider for the earlier thirteen several years,” explained Mow. “Learning about the issues our associate faced designed us know that we will need to discover new models for our transit-program operations. The cancellation of the arrangement provides us with an option to produce the upcoming technology of the process. Now is the time to reset and assume about what makes sense for the long run.”
The National Park Service founded the park’s transit process to lower auto congestion during the years-extended rehabilitation of the Likely-to-the-Sun Highway that began in 2007. That rehabilitation is now finish. The park is presently engaged in a planning exertion via its Heading-to-the-Sun Highway Corridor Management System that explores chances to broaden its shuttle system. This preparing work is an important incremental step in reviewing shuttle process operations and monetary sustainability into the long run.
