WEST GLACIER, Mont. [August 31, 2020] – On Saturday, August 29 at close to 5:42 p.m., Glacier Nationwide Park rangers responded to a report of CPR in progress in the vicinity of Glacier Rim on the North Fork of the Flathead River.
North Valley Rescue achieved rangers at Glacier Rim and offered jet boat transport to Fool Hen Rapids, close to 2 miles up-river. When rangers arrived, A.L.E.R.T. air ambulance employees was now on scene with Ronald Newton, a 62-calendar year-outdated guy from Columbia Falls, Montana who flipped his fishing pontoon boat whilst floating the river with a group, submerged in the water, and turned unconscious.
Additional than an hour of CPR was done right before initiatives ended up terminated. Newton was declared deceased, but cause of death is continue to not known.
Witness experiences point out the team was floating the river Saturday when two pontoon boats tied together became caught on a rock. Newton tried to free of charge the boats when his very own watercraft flipped, and he submerged in the h2o. A mate recovered Newton from the h2o and many bystanders initiated CPR on a nearby gravel bar. Reports point out he was not sporting a individual flotation product (pfd) or helmet at the time of the incident.
Glacier National Park thanks North Valley Look for and Rescue, Flathead County Sheriff’s Business office, Blankenship Rural Fireplace District, and A.L.E.R.T. for their aid in this rescue effort and hard work.
